Thank you to everyone who has nominated so far! We are seeking clarification on the following nominations.

Potentially Unclear/Vague Freeforms
Freeforms in this exchange are intended to function as the inciting incident where creators begin their fic, eventually leading to the story's "Happily Ever After."
Nominators, please clarify in what way the following Freeforms act as a singular inciting incident and/or how they indicate where, when, or how the requested characters’ relationship begins in the fic:

Potentially Unclear/Vague Freeforms
Freeforms in this exchange are intended to function as the inciting incident where creators begin their fic, eventually leading to the story's "Happily Ever After."
Nominators, please clarify in what way the following Freeforms act as a singular inciting incident and/or how they indicate where, when, or how the requested characters’ relationship begins in the fic:
- Alternate Universe - Reincarnated characters find happiness in their next life
- Canon Divergence - A Missed Opportunity is No Longer Missed
- Canon Divergence - Changing one canon event changes everything
- Identity Porn - Demon or Other Such Creature In Disguise As A Human
- Scenario - A and B are soulmates in every life
- Scenario - Being Stuck in A Horror Movie Scenario Leads to Love Confessions
- Scenario - falling in love with the father of your former bully
- Scenario - Getting Back Together After Realizing Ideological Differences Weren't So Different After All
- Please ensure that all Relationship nominations are submitted disambiguated by Fandom, e.g. "Steve Rogers/Bucky Barnes (MCU)" (if your nominations are rejected for incorrect formatting, you may email us a list of your nominations in the correct format).
- All Relationships must be submitted as “/” nominations, indicating romantic and/or sexual relationships between characters.

Date: 2025-03-26 07:09 am (UTC)I nominated this and I wanted to change it, but since I can't edit my nominations... I intended it more as 'finding out your partner is the father of your former bully.' Would that work better?

* Canon Divergence - A canon event doesn't happen
* Canon Divergence - A canon event happens differently

Date: 2025-03-26 11:48 pm (UTC)These still feel fairly generic and more plot-based (vs. inciting incident based).
Freeforms don't necessarily need to be about a first meeting (e.g. it can be about an event that alters A and B's lives, but the where/when/how should still be present), but maybe something more like these?
- Canon Divergence - A canon event doesn't happen that causes A/B to meet under different circumstances
- Canon Divergence - A canon event happens differently that causes A/B to meet under different circumstances
Alternatively, if you'd like to submit a fandom-specific version, that might make more sense?
Some examples from the tagset:
- SW - Order 66 Aftermath (Order 66 is the inciting incident)
- DGS - Dance of Deduction Leads Into Feelings Confession (Dance of Deduction is the inciting incident)
For fandom-specific tags, we just ask they still be generic to the fandom (e.g. no specific characters names).
I hope some of that helps; happy to workshop some more if you'd like!

Date: 2025-03-26 01:06 pm (UTC)Would “Alternate Universe - Reincarnation” or “Scenario - Characters retain memories of previous life” be more appropriate?

Date: 2025-03-27 02:06 am (UTC)"A Missed Opportunity No Longer Missed" - Like, sometimes there's just that spot in canon that *could* have been the inciting incident for the relationship, but instead it just sailed by and nothing was incited? Like "A confessed their love for B in canon but that was the end of it" or "A ran away and B let him go" or in a more meta way "the writers introduced character c for a short time when they could have used character a" It's just *that* turning point (or turning points) that vary by the actual fandom/relationship.
"Demon or Other Such Creature in Disguise as a Human" - Character A would not date Character B if they knew Character B was not a human, but Character B is in disguise as a human, presumably to seduce character A. Could be clearer, I get it.
"Being stuck in a horror movie scenario leads to love confessions" - The inciting incident is being stuck in a horror movie scenario, like for a horror movie AU for a canon that isn't generally a horror movie. Maybe there's a killer or they get stranded in the woods or a haunted house. Just, generic horror movie scenarios.
Anyway, that's all I got. I can change them to other things if they don't really fit.

Date: 2025-03-28 12:24 am (UTC)For the "missed opportunity" one, something a little more specific would probably suffice. Something like "Canon meeting of A/B goes differently in [some way]" or something along those lines?
For the "demon" one, we'll give you some time to rephrase or replace this one; "Human A would not date Demon B if they knew B was not a human; B disguises themselves as a human when they meet to seduce A" is well under the character limit if you just want to nominate that?
We'll give you 24 more hours to update these since we hadn't posted our next clarification post at the time of your comment here, so please feel free to update or let us know how you'd like us to update for you.
